Prescott’s First-Ever Bob Ross Paint Challenge

The Quad-Cities'
First-Ever
Bob Ross Paint Challenge

The paint challenge raising funds for foster and other at-risk youth in Western Yavapai County.

By Mona Stephens

Who could forget the happy man with large, fluffy hair who taught the world to paint “happy little trees” on PBS for 31 seasons straight?

Those of use who haven’t seen the PBS show, even know who Bob Ross is as he has become a pop culture icon in the last decade.

People are obsessed with him, buying everything from Bob Ross socks to Chia Pets to crock pots.

In February, two local nonprofits teamed up to leverage this obsession in support of local foster and other at-risk youth. Thus the Bob Ross Paint Challenge was born.

How Painting “Happy Little Trees” Makes a Difference

The Bob Ross Paint Challenge is a friendly paint competition and fundraiser put on by Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation (YC4KF) and Arizona Resin Teaching Services (ARTS).

Every penny earned from ticket sales and at the event will go to support the missions of these two nonprofits- both of which support vulnerable youth in the Quad-Cities.

“Not only is the Bob Ross Challenge a Prescott first, it’s a fun and creative way to lift up our community’s most vulnerable members” -Kadawna Gasson a Bob Ross Paint Challenge ticket holder

YC4KF provides for the unmet needs of children who are in foster care or have recently aged out of foster care in Western Yavapai County. ARTS provides a positive atmosphere for at-risk youth to explore their inner talents using different mediums of art.
